Strategic Direction

In year 1, the Campaign will focus on four strategic directions. Each strategy has identified a number of activities that advance the strategy's purpose. The Steering Committee decided that in 2008 Positively Timmins would focus on four strategic directions, namely:

1. Promotional Strategy Purpose – To generate local awareness of the Positively Timmins community-pride campaign and its purpose.

2. Ambassador Strategy Purpose – Improve local perceptions of, and how residents feel about, the community by sharing positive messages about the City, its resources and history.

3. Public Engagement Strategy Purpose – To mobilize the community in support of the campaign and change local perceptions of the community’s self image.

4. Beautification Strategy Purpose – To identify means of improving the visual features of the community and support existing efforts.

Through the attainment of these strategies, this initiative will enable the City of Timmins to contribute to the quality of life of its residents by providing cultural enrichment opportunities, by improving its ability to recruit and retain young people and professionals, as well as by marketing Timmins for business investment and as a destination of choice for tourism. Positively Timmins – J'en suis fier will continue to strengthen, support and promote community pride.

  • Timmins Daily Press Literary Awards
  • Resident/business/visitor surveys conducted in partnership with the Timmins Chamber of Commerce
  • Welcome to Timmins Night
  • Customer Service Training
  • National Aboriginal Day
  • BIA – Downtown Street Festival
  • Rick Cecconi/TimminsGetClean.com initiative

The City of Timmins will be celebrating four years of centennials commencing in 2009 to 2012 with Positively Timmins – J'en suis fier in full-support of the celebrations. The campaign will be working behind the scenes to provide answers to questions and any information that is required.
