It promises to be the biggest beautification project Timmins has ever seen! Students and staff of Timmins High and Vocational School have partnered with the City of Timmins, Timmins Get Clean, the Downtown Timmins B.I.A., Timmins Police and the Timmins Fire Department for a huge city-wide clean-up on May 24th and 25th.

The Timmins Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) is soliciting public opinion regarding English-language post-secondary opportunities in the area through an English University Education in Timmins survey, which is now available at www.timminsedc.com.

Timmins and its catchment area comprise the 5th largest centre in Northern Ontario, yet lacks a local English University or campus. A major goal of the City is to broaden access to post- secondary education with a University presence. The end result is to establish a physical site for University-level education.

The Timmins Chamber of Commerce 2010 Industrial Summer Tours are the perfect way to spend an afternoon.

For the summer of 2010, the Timmins Chamber of Commerce has again partnered with Goldcorp Porcupine Gold Mines, who will allow the public to gain a unique glimpse into their Timmins operation. This free outing explores active mining areas, a reclaimed mine site and offers a look at past, present and future mining activities in the area.

This coming weekend promises to be fun-filled and action-packed. The South Porcupine SummerFest '10 starts Friday, July 16 and runs right through to Sunday evening, July 18.

This annual event is a favourite for the many residents and visitors looking for family fun. From scavenger hunts, Baking Competition, Pet Contest, to children activities and free inflatables. Summerfest â10 has something for everyone.

Downtown Timmins annual Summer Street Festival

The Downtown Timmins annual Summer Street Festival is scheduled to take place on Thursday July 8th to Saturday July 10th. Four city blocks will be closed to traffic and transformed into an outdoor shopping court complete with live entertainment, community information booths and children activities. On July 10th, horse drawn wagon rides will be available for a small fee. The ride departs from the corner of Third Ave. and Spruce St. South and travels behind the ONR bus depot and follows the old railway path to Lakeshore Road where it returns to the departure point. Rides will be available from 11am to 5pm.

On Saturday, June 26,2010, The Porcupine Handweavers and Spinners Guild (founded in 1976) will celebrate fiber week by having a OPEN HOUSE hosted by Dream Acres Alpaca Farm located at 5590 hwy 101 â Â½ hr. drive towards Matheson. Please come and join us from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for some informative displays in the process in the making of fiber . We will take raw fiber from a sheared alpaca and show the process of Carding, Spinning and Weaving just like it was done by our forefathers.

100 Years of Francophone Heritage

The third annual Festival de la St-Jean is only days away and soon hundreds of individuals from near and far will assemble at the Mountjoy arena to celebrate 100 years of Francophone heritage in the city with the heart of gold.

In line with the City of Timminsâ centennial celebrations and to celebrate St-Jean-Baptiste Day, the Centre culturel La Ronde, in collaboration with the Caisse populaire de Timmins, are offering a fun-filled day of song, dance and activities for all ages on June 19th.
